British Food Fortnight - What do apples, venison, blackberries, oysters, crab, and parsnips have in common?
They are all in season during British Food Fortnight.
2013 celebrates the 12th year of the event, from 21 September until 6 October 2013.
The UK has a fantastic opportunity to bring our fabulous great British food to the fore! And we can show the rest of the world what we are made of.
We have been celebrating Food Fortnight with dishes such a:
HERB ROLLED VENISON, beetroot gratin, onion & rosemary puree
BRIXHAM CRAB RAVIOLI, lobster, baby courgette & buttered kale
ROAST WOOD PIGEON, with peas, fèves, savoy cabbage & pancetta,
AGED 8OZ FILLET STEAK, served with hand cut chips, garnish & Diane, Roquefort, Béarnaise or Peppercorn sauce.
Not forgetting the age old favourites:
STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING, apple sorbet, butterscotch & an apple crisp
BREAD & BUTTER PUDDING, anglaise & orange
